Im back from the Big Apple and the best thing to do is bake cinnamon rolls! My boyfriend came to visit me back at my parents house and I felt that our reunion was in need of something sweet! Drew's favorite sweet treat includes anything that has sugar and a flakey crust (or anything that I bake for him). I whipped up these adorable cinnamon rolls just in time for him to arrive and they were waiting for him still warm when he arrived.
My absolute favorite part about baking this particular recipe from Front Paige, is the fact that the prep time isn't as long as you would expect and the baking time is even faster! Only 8 minutes after they get set into the oven they are golden brown and oh so melty and cinnamoney!
This recipe will be a fan favorite forever!
Rolling In Cinnamon Rolls: yields about 12 (triple) rolls
In a small heat proof bowl dissolve the yeast in the hot milk (about 10 minutes)
Next combine the flour, sugar, egg, salt to the yeast and milk mixture
Add in the remaining flour slowly so it doesn't make a mess! (sometimes it likes to jump out of the bowl)
After the dough is all mixed, transfer to a surface with 1/2 cup flour spread out
Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is elastic and smooth feeling! (literally nothing smoother an kneaded dough)
Put to the dough into a bowl that has either coconut oil or olive oil spread lightly on the inside of the bowl (it prevents it from sticking)
Cover with a damp towel for 45 min to 1 hour
- 1 package of active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour (bread flour if you want to use it)
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon (I love cinnamon so you can up or down your cinnamon take but no less than 1/2 tablespoon)
For the sugar filling mix the three ingredients together
When the hour is up, spread more flour on your flat work space and lay the dough down
Cut the ball of dough in half, roll out one half at a time
Flour your roller, and roll the dough 1/4 inch thick into and spread half the sugar mix on the dough and roll into a log
Use a knife or a pastry cutter and cut the dough into 1 inch thick pieces
Place in a cupcake tin and bake for 15 minutes!
When they are done, pull out of the oven and just sit and smell the delicious smells, THEN do it again!!!
Eat and enjoy! (I would say share with friends but my goodness they are too good!)
I hope you enjoyed the recipe!
I always love feedback!
Hugs and best baking adventures
