Brown Sugar Oat Cookies

I graduate from college tomorrow and I decided to spend the morning baking and reflecting on the past 4 years of my college career. When I started my journey into photography I had no idea I would eventually add my two passions into one career path. About a year ago as I was sitting in my cousins New York City apartment, I knew that I wasn't as satisfied photographing people, I started playing around with my own baking and photographing my creations as a hobby. My background in photography helped me perfect my lighting, plating and my styling. I knew this is what I was mean to do with my skills. I find baking and photography as calming as yoga or a massage. The kitchen truly is my happy place. 

My recipe collection has grown signficantly over these past 6 months, I decided to make a small cookbook for a final project in my senior thesis capstone. After assembling the cookbook, I realized that I want to produce more and more cookbooks!

Brown Sugar Oat Cookies: pre heat the oven to 350° Fahrenheit

Line your baking sheets with parchment paper

Cream the sugar and the butter together until smooth

Add in the vanilla, salt, egg, baking powder and the cinnamon

Slowly add in the flour one 1/4 cup at a time

Next using a rubber spatula, fold in your oats 

Using two teaspoons, create balls of dough and place on the baking sheet for 12 minutes!

Eat and enjoy!

- 1 stick of soft butter

- 3/4 cups of all purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

- 3/4 cup of brown sugar

- 1 pinch of salt

- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1 teaspoon of baking powder

- 1 large egg

- 1 cup of oatmeal (old fashioned rolled oats)
