Cinnamon Swirl Bread

One of my favorite snacks as a kid was cinnamon swirl bread. My mom use to take a huge handful out of the bottom, heat it up and plop it down in front of my sister and I. I would always sneak the sections away from my sister that had the most cinnamon sugar in them! I wanted to recreate the taste of the bread but make the look more esthetically pleasing! This is a perfect bread for a brunch, bridal shower, baby shower, you name it! 

I think I might make a few more of them for my bridal shower in the next few months to really give my friends and family a taste of such a fond childhood memory!

 

Cinnamon Swirl Bread: Preheat your oven to 400° Fahrenheit and grease a baking sheet

Bread:

In a bowl, mix your yeast, sugar, milk and your egg yolk together

Next, add all your flour and your salt

Mix the dry mixture by hand into the wet mix until it forms a ball

When your ball is formed, set aside in a bowl covered in plastic wrap for 1 hour to rise

After the ball of dough has risen, roll the dough on a floured surface into a square about 1/4" thick

Spread your melted butter out on the dough leaving 1/2" on the sides of the dough

Evenly disperse your sugar and cinnamon mix over the butter to cover the whole sheet of dough

- 1 packet of active dry yeast

- 2 1/4 cups of all purpose flour

- 1 egg yolk

- 1 tablespoon of sugar

- 1/2 teaspoon of salt

- 3/4 cups of whole milk

- 1/3 of stick of unsalted butter melted butter

Topping:

- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar

- 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon

- 1/4 stick of unsalted butter melted butter

Starting at one end of the dough, roll the dough into a long tube and slice down the middle leaving 1/2" of attached dough at the top

Criss cross the dough over and under and then fix the end under the attached dough so it forms a circle

Place on your greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown

Eat and Enjoy warm!
